We had the 5th practice of this year on March 18th. I-san, who was the only first time participant to our practice did really well, as he had some previous Karuta experience. Other members are also getting noticeably better, and all of them could grab most of cards before Shimono-ku (lower poem) was read. It was very impressive.
Always start with “Yoroshiku Onegai Shimasu” to each other, and to a reader.
Then, go for it!
Today’s sweets during the break was Monaka (azuki bean paste filling sandwiched between two thin crisp wafers), which Noriko brought back from Japan.
And, the special bonus after the practice – we watched a great Japanese Anime by Makoto Shinkai called “Five Centimeters per second”, which was another souvenir from Japan.
You can see a part of the anime here.
The next practice will be April 7th. Please see Activities for detail.
